Our team

Meet the people behind your advice

Specialist financial advice is only one part of what clients need during serious illness, injury, disability or major life change. They also need a team that can listen carefully, explain the next step and keep the process moving.

At HFI, our advisers lead the strategy, while our relationship, operations, paraplanning and implementation team help make the advice process clear, organised and practical.

Who you will speak with first

Most clients first speak with our relationship team. We will ask a few questions about your situation, explain whether HFI may be able to help, and arrange the right next step with an adviser if appropriate.

Advisers

William Johns

Managing Director, CFP® professional

William leads Health & Finance Integrated (HFI), a specialist service helping Australians navigate life and disability insurance claims. His work sits where health and money meet, supporting people and families living with disability or serious illness to make clear, confident financial decisions.

A CFP® professional with a Master of Disability Studies, William is one of the few advisers dually trained in disability and finance. This rare mix underpins his practical, plain-English advice across TPD and insurance claims, medical retirement, superannuation and Centrelink strategy, and Special Disability Trusts.

William previously served as an elected Board Director of the Financial Advice Association of Australia (formerly the FPA and AFA) and as Chair of its Professional Designations Committee, which oversees the CFP® designation. He is also recognised as a Trusts & Estates Practitioner (TEP), reflecting his commitment to high professional standards and collaborative work with lawyers, trustees and clinicians.

Clients choose William for outcomes in the real world: settled claims, sustainable retirement income, and strategies that safeguard housing, eligibility and ongoing care. He is regularly engaged as an expert witness for complex financial reports and court matters, bringing clear logic and evidence to high-stakes decisions.

His motivation is personal as well as professional. As a carer for a loved one living with MS, William knows first-hand how important it is that the whole family is supported, and that the process never makes you feel “different”. That empathy shows up in the way he and the team design accessible, step-by-step advice.

William has a particular interest in neurological and movement disorders, autoimmune diseases, and illnesses or disabilities that result in cognitive challenges. He is a lead adviser and has featured for MS Australia, Parkinson’s Victoria, Autism Advisory and many more.
