Melbourne program promotes opportunities in IT for people with autism

EPIC Testability Academy (ETA), a new program in Melbourne, is creating opportunities for people with a disability while filling a gap in the IT sector. The customized program runs for 12 weeks and trains students in software testing, a critical but often overlooked element of any major IT project. Paul Seaman, one of two industry experts delivering the program, told Link Disability Magazine, “For some reason, there is a focus on what people with disability can’t do, whereas for everyone else there is a focus on ability and what they can do. That’s a strange bias and one that robs many workplaces of the chance to tap into new ways of thinking.”
