Big players in finance announce they’re joining climate change fight

Leaders and executives from Australia’s major banks, insurance companies, super funds, financial sector peak bodies, civil society groups, and academia have collaborated to form the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative. According to its website, the initiative has been established to “set out a roadmap for realigning the finance sector to support greater social, environmental and economic outcomes for the country.” Jacki Johnson, co-chair of the initiative, told ProBono news that the next decade will be critical for managing climate change and other risks, and the finance sector needs to play a part.
