New tech shouldn’t forget people with a disability
A recent conference hosted by the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) highlighted the complex relationship that many people with a disability have with new technologies. While many new innovations designed specifically for people with a disability can be life-changing, people with disabilities are often completely forgotten during the design process for mainstream technologies. Panelists at the event called for designers to involve people with a disability early in the design process in order to create services and products that are suitable to all people, without the need for specialised or adapted features.
